Today I read an interesting article on Medium that got me thinking about my writing goals for this year. Around this time last year I mentioned that I wanted to write more and I did. I still do, however the type of writing I want to do has changed. I have been blogging for at least a decade and, with one exception, most of my blogs have never been structured around a dedicated topic. I can see that I most often write about super challenges, reading, real life sports (not the kind you watch on tv), and food. All of that is enjoyable and fun to write about, but that’s not going to be my focus this year.
This year I plan to write more about personal growth. By the year’s end I’d like to look back here and see a progression of what I’ve learned. I’d also like that shift to reflect my growth as a person who writes writer.
I joined Medium late last year when they opened it up to the public. I have yet to post an article there. I am hesitating because I’m trying to pick the “right” topic. I know that isn’t what blogging is about. It’s about writing whatever you feel like writing about without hesitation and ultimately finding that community who feels a connection with your thoughts. I’m unsure of what to say there so I’m going to say nothing, lurking on other blogs on Medium for a little longer before I dive in. Learning opportunity numero uno.

Wow, Medium is really interesting. I’d like to do some essays on translation on it, but it looks like there’s not much of an audience/writer-base for it there… I’ll have to explore it a while longer to see what angle I want to take.

You should! This is a fairly new platform to the public so you could be the first in your base/collection with your writings.
